The Blush Bloom Catcher Flower Bowl 🌸
The Tale of the Crystal Gardeners 🌸
🌸 Once upon a time in England, glassmakers were creating objects not just for use, but for atmosphere — pieces designed to soften a room, catch the light, and quietly elevate everyday life. During the interwar years, flower bowls like this one became beloved household treasures, bringing nature indoors in a way that felt both elegant and joyful.
🌸 This beautiful glass flower bowl dates to approximately the 1920s–1940s and is attributed to Bagley & Co., one of England’s most well-known glassmakers of the Art Deco period. The piece is marked “Made in England” on the flower frog, and its form, colour, construction, and overall design are all consistent with English glass production of this era.
🌸 A Bowl That Blooms 🌸
🌸 Crafted in a dreamy frosted satin pink, the glass has a soft, milky glow that shifts gently between blush, peach, and rose as the light changes throughout the day. It’s the kind of colour that feels calm and romantic.
🌸 The bowl’s sculptural form is where the magic really begins. Flowing swirls ripple outward like petals opening in slow motion, giving the piece a sense of movement even when it sits perfectly still. The softly ruffled rim feels almost floral, as though the glass itself has bloomed.
🌸 At the centre rests its original removable glass flower frog, glowing in a warm pink tone. With carefully spaced holes, it was designed to cradle each stem upright and supported, turning even the simplest flowers into something intentional and graceful.
🌸 Beneath all that softness is a square foot that grounds the design and adds a subtle architectural contrast to the flowing curves above — a balance of structure and movement that feels unmistakably Art Deco.
🌸 Why it’s special 🌸
This piece was made to live on a sunlit sideboard, a dining table, or a quiet windowsill — somewhere it could catch the light and quietly do its work. Today, it still carries that same energy: part decorative object, part functional flower bowl, part small slice of English Art Deco charm.
🌸 It’s not just a vessel for water and stems. It’s a stage for everyday beauty, a reminder that even ordinary moments deserve something lovely.
🌼 Condition and Character 🌼
This bowl is in beautiful vintage condition, especially for its age. There are no cracks or structural issues, and it displays wonderfully. As with all vintage glass, gentle signs of age and use may be present and are part of its story rather than flaws.
Subtle variations in the glass, soft transitions in colour, and the velvety satin finish are all reminders that this piece was made to be enjoyed, not hidden away.
🧚♀️A Little Note from the Antique Fairy
As with all vintage darlings, this piece has lived a life or two and may have a tiny surface scratch here or there as part of its story. I do my very best to capture any little whispers of wear in photos and notes. If you have any questions or just want to chat about this treasure, feel free to reach out! 😊
