This beautiful vase feels like a jewelled piece of German crystal, bright and elegant and full of beautiful detail.
 
Crafted from heavy 24% lead crystal, it has a lovely weight in the hand and that unmistakable crystal clarity that catches and reflects the light so beautifully.
 
The sides are deep-cut with architectural frosted leaves that sweep upward, cradling a vivid ruby-red flower that appears suspended within the glass.
 
The petals are beautifully carved with a dimensional effect, giving the flower a real sense of movement and making the design feel wonderfully alive from every angle.
 
The vibrant red colouring is created through ruby flashing, where a fine layer of red glass is applied over clear crystal and then carefully carved away to reveal the floral detail beneath.
 
The original gold label still proudly carries the word Handarbeit, meaning worked by hand, a beautiful little detail that speaks to the craftsmanship behind the piece.
This vase was created by Anna Hütte, a name closely tied to generations of German glassmaking.
 
The Glass-Making Forest-
The Anna Hütte foundry was located in the Bavarian Forest, a region famous for turning sand and fire into beautifully cut crystal for centuries.
 
The 24% Standard-
This vase is made from Bleikristall, specifically the high-quality 24% lead crystal variety. That beautiful crystal formula is what gives the glass such wonderful clarity and allows the light to dance through it so vividly.
 
A Mid-Century Classic-
While the foundry itself has deep historic roots, this floral cut style became especially loved in European homes through the later twentieth century. The combination of frosted crystal and ruby flashing feels bold and elegant all at once.
 
The End of an Era-
Like many historic European crystal houses, Anna Hütte eventually ceased large-scale production, which makes surviving pieces with their original labels especially lovely to come across today.
