The Liquid Time Capsule Coty Cordon 1909 Sealed Perfume
📜 The Liquid Time Capsule
✨ This is a magical bottle of Coty Cordon Rouge Eau de Cologne. The house of Coty, founded by the legendary François Coty in 1904, was a titan in the fragrance world.
✨ This particular bottle carries the spirit of refreshing simplicity. It wasn't the heavy, complex perfume of the night; it was the uplifting splash of the morning, used liberally to refresh the skin and the spirit. It's the scent of sun-drenched European gardens and a crisp white linen shirt. It has seen many sunrises and knows the secret to a perfect, bright day. It is, simply put, a Golden Age Classic!
✨ This bottle is a true marvel of traditional elegance and thoughtful design.
✨ The glass of the bottle is a generous, stately rectangle. It’s dressed in vertical fluting all around its sides—like a Greek column, or a lady's perfectly pleated silk skirt. This not only makes it lovely to look at, but it ensures it won't slip from a hand after a refreshing splash! The warm, golden hue of the cologne inside glows beautifully through the fluted glass, suggesting sunshine and citrus groves.
✨ The top is crowned with a jaunty, bright Bakelite red cap! (Please read about Bakelite below:))This is its pop of playful color, a little cherry on top of the elegant, old-world design. It looks a bit like a tiny fez or a mushroom cap, adding a delightful dash of contrast to the whole composition.
✨ The label is the heart of the charm! The large, central label is a marvel of detailed illustration, featuring ornate designs with charming siren figures holding up the Coty Crest. It declares the contents with proud, antique typography. The smaller label at the base confirms the precious cargo—"EAU DE COLOGNE" in its beautiful, historic font.
✨ This bottle is the embodiment of sophisticated simplicity. It’s the gentle grand-dame of any collection, ready to offer a bright, citrusy refreshment and a knowing wink to a bygone era.
🦄 The Rarity of the Unopened Treasure
✨ Now, for the thrilling part! How rare is it to find an unopened bottle of this golden elixir?
It's a delightful discovery, akin to finding a unicorn sipping lemonade! 🦄
✨ This bottle holds Eau de Cologne, which, by its very nature, was meant to be splashed on generously—a refreshing daily ritual, making full, untouched bottles less common over time.
✨ Even if a bottle was carefully tucked away, the perfume spirits within are prone to a bit of magic-trick-style vanishing over many decades. An unopened bottle means the scent levels are still high and the seal is intact, which is a fantastic achievement against the ravages of time!
✨A full and sealed bottle is a genuine prize! It is a beautiful, full-throated echo of the past, a tiny monument to a lost ritual, and a lovely rarity in the whimsical world of vintage fragrance collecting.
This piece is truly a liquid time capsule!
🧙♂️A little about Bakelite
Bakelite, the sturdy, colorful darling of the Art Deco age, is wonderfully collectible today.
The fundamental reason for Bakelite's rarity is that the main production spell was broken long ago! When the cheaper, easier-to-produce plastics like Lucite and vinyl arrived after World War II, the marvelous, but labor-intensive, Bakelite process mostly retired its wand.
Therefore, every single piece of authentic Bakelite is a finite resource—a precious, old-world coin that will never be minted again! It's a true vintage treasure, and its scarcity will only grow with time, making it a very polite and charming type of rare.
All items are in vintage and antique preloved condition. Some minor surface scratches may be present. I do my best to note and photograph any wear. Please contact me with any further questions :)
