The Sun Dappled Lime Mini Jug by Carlton Ware
Step into the sun-drenched orchards of yesteryear with this whimsical Carlton Ware treasure! 🌿✨
A Basket of Vintage Magic 🍇
This charming piece is a classic example of Carlton Ware’s "Fruit Basket" range (sometimes lovingly called "Vine and Grape").
🌿🍇The Weave 🌿🍇
It has a sun dappled lime basketweave body that looks as if it were plucked straight from a rustic English garden.
🌿🍇 The Harvest 🌿🍇
There is vibrant grapes and lush foliage, topped off with a clever twig-like handle that sports a tiny ceramic apple at its peak.
🌿🍇 The Finish 🌿🍇
It displays a glossy, cheerful glaze that embodies the Art Deco influence while feeling perfectly at home on a cozy breakfast table.
🌿🍇 This piece likely dates back to the late 1930s through the early 1950s. This specific floral and fruit series began its colorful life in the mid-1930s and remained a superstar of British pottery through the 1960s.
🌿🍇 Born in the Carlton Works in Stoke-on-Trent, England, this range was part of a movement to make daily meals feel like a celebratory garden party.
🌿🍇 Carlton Ware was famous for its "Novelty Ware"—designs executed with a great sense of humor and a dash of theatrical flair.
🌿🍇 Imagine this jug being used to serve heavy cream over a bowl of fresh berries during a 1940s garden luncheon. It wasn't just pottery—it was a conversation starter designed to bring a bit of the countryside indoors. Its weighty ceramic feel is a hallmark of Carlton Ware’s quality, meant to be used, loved, and passed down through generations of tea drinkers.
This emerald-hued marvel is ready to be the whimsical star of your table, whether it’s acting as a jaunty tea-time companion for pouring thick cream over a bowl of berries or serving as the most stylish gravy boat to ever grace a Sunday roast. 🌿✨ Its sculptural vines make it a perfect miniature vase for a handful of wildflowers, while its sturdy, glossy handle ensures it’s always prepared to offer a refreshing pour of iced juice or a secret splash of lemonade during a sun-drenched garden lunch. 🍋🍇 Whether it’s holding savory sauces or sweet syrups, this jug turns every pour into a playful celebration of a mid-century English orchard. 🍯🥂
