This charming piece is a classic example of Carlton Ware’s much-loved “Fruit Basket” range, sometimes lovingly called “Vine and Grape.” Created in Stoke-on-Trent, England, this beautifully detailed series began its colourful life in the mid-1930s and remained a favourite in British homes through the decades that followed.
 
With its cheerful lime-green basketweave body, clusters of ripe grapes, and lush trailing foliage, it feels as though it has been plucked straight from a warm English garden. The twig-like handle, finished with a tiny ceramic apple at its peak, gives the piece its own playful little flourish.
 
Finished in a glossy glaze with lovely sculptural detail throughout, it carries that unmistakable Carlton Ware charm, expressive, decorative, and full of character. It feels bright and joyful while still carrying the beautiful craftsmanship of the era.
