The Eternal Hostess Perfume Bottle
✨ Once upon a time, the world fell head over heels for powdered wigs, beauty marks, and the whimsical courts of pre-Revolutionary France. This bottle is a perfect product of that longing!
✨ It was crafted by a clever Metalsmith (perhaps in France or England) who wanted to give every lady her own piece of the grand court of Versailles. Instead of housing perfume for a Queen, this flask likely held the favoured cologne or, perhaps, a pungent restorative—a necessary accessory for any delicate lady after a particularly long day of calling cards and corsets.
It is an exquisite example of Rococo Revival style brought to life in glass and silver.
🌹 The Eternal Hostess🌹
This bottle is presided over by its own tiny, eternal noblewoman.
✨ At its heart sits The Eternal Hostess. She wears the magnificent powdered coiffure of the Rococo period, softened by a wreath of perpetual blossoms. Her expression is one of gentle mystery, as if she knows every scandalous secret whispered across two centuries of drawing rooms.
✨ The most magnificent part is her stopper! This metal cap is embossed with the elaborate flourishes of the period, securing the bottle's secrets with an air of courtly ceremony. It sits atop the lady like a queen’s headpiece, ready to be lifted only for the most dramatic occasion. It is most likely silver plated copper which is highly collectable!
✨ This is truly a fascinating and rare jewel for a vanity collector—a silent guardian of history and high style.
The bottle has clearly been handmade as there are bubbles in the glass. The image has also been fused to the glass somehow. I have never come across another vintage or antique bottle made this way.
All items are in vintage and antique preloved condition. Some minor surface scratches may be present. I do my best to note and photograph any wear. Please contact me with any further questions :)
