The Sunset Starburst Cream & Sugar Set
The Sunset Starburst Duo
This vibrant pair looks as though they were lifted straight from the heart of a 1950s summer sunset.
They’re dressed in a spectacularly bold shade of persimmon orange, sometimes described as tangerine, rich and bright and full of warmth. It’s the kind of colour that instantly catches the eye and brings a beautiful burst of energy to the table.
Made from opaque glass, often lovingly called milk glass, they have that beautiful solid glow-from-within look that vintage glass does so well.
Turn them over and you’ll find a lovely pressed starburst pattern at the base, like a hidden little detail meant just for the person holding them. The starburst is the signature of Hazel-Atlas Glass Company and gives the pair that extra touch of mid-century charm.
These sets were produced primarily between the 1940s and early 1950s, during the era of Fire King style kitchenware and cheerful everyday glass. They were made to be sturdy enough for regular use while still bringing colour and personality into the home.
Because they feel so wonderfully architectural and solid, many have survived beautifully over the decades. Their colour still feels every bit as joyful today.
Why it’s so special
Hazel-Atlas pieces in bold opaque colours have become wonderfully collectible, and this vibrant persimmon orange is especially eye-catching. The rich colour, sculptural shape, and pressed starburst detail all come together beautifully. A matching duo like this feels playful and bright while still carrying that unmistakable mid-century style.
Each curated treasure comes with its own illustrated history card, created especially for the piece and inspired by the details that make it unique, allowing the thread of its story to carry forward into the hands of its next keeper.
Condition and Character
This beautiful pair presents wonderfully in vintage condition. The opaque glass still holds its lovely bright colour, and the pressed starburst bases remain beautifully crisp. As with all vintage glass, gentle signs of age and use may be present as part of the story of original pieces from this era.
🧚♀️ A Little Note from the Antique Fairy 🧚♀️
As with all vintage darlings, these pieces have lived a life or two and may have tiny surface scratches here or there as part of their story. I do my very best to capture any little whispers of wear in photos and notes. I also try to photograph each treasure in different light so you can see the colour as clearly as possible. Even so, tones may vary a little from screen to screen.
