The Little Boda Bunny from Sweden
The Little Boda Bunny from Sweden
A little creature from the wonderfully imaginative world of 1970s Scandinavian glass.
Designed by celebrated Swedish glass artist Bertil Vallien, this charming figurine belongs to his Zoo Series, created for Kosta Boda and launched in 1975. The collection brought together around 40 different animals, each interpreted through Vallien’s playful sculptural style.
Moulded in art glass, the little figure has the wonderfully rounded, chunky form that gives the Zoo animals so much personality. Delicate carved details define the face and body, bringing character to the beautifully simple silhouette.
Welcome to the Kosta Boda Zoo
The Zoo Series transformed familiar animals into small pieces of Scandinavian art glass. Soft edges and wonderfully expressive forms gave each creature its own personality, while keeping the clean simplicity associated with Scandinavian design.
The flat-backed form also allows the figurine to be used as a paperweight, making it a little piece of art that can happily live on a desk, bookshelf or amongst a collection of treasured objects.
Why it’s so special
There is something irresistible about Bertil Vallien’s little glass creatures. Playful and beautifully designed, they capture the more whimsical side of 1970s Scandinavian Modernism.

🧚♀️ A Little Note from the Antique Fairy
As with all vintage darlings, these pieces have lived a life or two and may have tiny surface scratches here or there as part of their story. I do my very best to capture any little whispers of wear in photos and notes. I also try to photograph each treasure in different light so you can see the colour as clearly as possible. Even so, tones may vary a little from screen to screen.
If you have any questions or just want to chat about this treasure, feel free to reach out 😊
