⚓ The Fjord & Folk Bowl Set by Egersund Norway ⚓
🌸 Each bowl is festooned with a vibrant garland of folk-art flowers. The petals are a bold, poppy red, nestled against deep navy blue leaves that dance around the rim like a festive summer solstice celebration.
🌸 If you run your fingers along the bottom, you will feel dainty concentric ripples—much like a pebble dropped into a crystal-clear Norwegian lake.
⚓ A Nordic History ⚓
⚓ These bowls were born in the legendary Egersund Fayancefabrik (Egersund Faience Factory) on the southwest coast of Norway.
⚓ The factory was founded in 1847 by Johan Feyer, who learned his craft in the smoky pottery towns of England. He brought that knowledge back to the fjords, transforming local clay into spectacular stoneware.
⚓ This specific set is a rare vintage find from the 1960s. During this era, designers like Grete Rønning and Kaare Blokk Johansen were busy turning plates and bowls into icons of "Scandi-Cool".
⚓ Flip a bowl over and you’ll see the factory’s magnificent hallmark: a sturdy sailing ship. This was their vow of quality, though the ship finally "docked" for the last time when the factory closed in 1979.
⚓ Because the factory merged with Porsgrund in 1967 and later changed hands, finding a set in such vibrant condition is like finding a four-leaf clover in a snowdrift.
There are in good vintage condition. Just a little wear on one of the bowls. Please see photos 📸
Please Note: There could be small imperfections, including stray decorator marks, tiny areas of missing glaze, little rough spots, etc. This is not damage as production techniques were not quite as professional as they are today and are considered as part of their charm.
All items are in vintage and antique preloved condition. Some minor surface scratches may be present. I do my best to note and photograph any wear. Please contact me with any further questions :)
