The Ruby Star of the Vanity ๐Ÿ’Ž

The Ruby Star of the Vanity ๐Ÿ’Ž

$225.00Price

๐Ÿ’Ž This heavy, ruby-red beauty is a classic piece of High-Regency Giftware. It was born in an era when the home was a stage, and every object on a ladyโ€™s dressing table was expected to perform!

๐Ÿ’Ž The Ruby Glow ๐Ÿ’Ž

That deep, radiant red is achieved through a technique of layering translucent enamel over a "guillochรฉ-style" sunburst pattern. This creates a light-from-within effect, ensuring that even in a dimly lit room, this box captures every stray beam of light.

๐Ÿ’Ž The Jewelled Crown ๐Ÿ’Ž

Those sparkling stones aren't just decorations; they are the paparazzi of the piece! By the mid-20th century, the style was to have gems that sat proudly on the surface, catching the light from every angle. It gave the box a bold, 3D texture that was the height of fashion in the era.

๐Ÿ’Ž The Golden Frame ๐Ÿ’Ž

The heavy metal casing (likely a sturdy jewellers' brass) was polished to a mirror shine to frame the red like a royal portrait.

๐Ÿ’Ž A Life of Glamour ๐Ÿ’Ž

In its heyday, this box wouldn't have been hidden in a drawer. It would have been the centerpiece of a mirrored vanity tray, sitting alongside crystal perfume bottles and oversized powder puffs.

It was a special secrets box. It might have held:

๐Ÿ’Ž A pair of shimmering cocktail rings for an evening out.

๐Ÿ’Ž A few scented pastilles (vintage breath mints) to ensure a perfect goodnight.

๐Ÿ’Ž Or perhaps it was a gift of love, bought at a high-end department store like Harrods or Saks Fifth Avenue for a birthday or a silver anniversary.

๐Ÿ’Ž Why itโ€™s a Treasure Today ๐Ÿ’Ž

The weight of this box is a testament to the engineering of the era. It wasn't just a container; it was a piece of architecture for the tabletop. While many things from that time were made of plastic, this box chose to be metal & glassโ€”a heavy, sparkling survivor that still demands to be the center of attention.

There is some discolouration on the bottom metal as pictured :)

All items are in vintage and antique preloved condition. Some minor surface scratches may be present.  I do my best to note and photograph any wear.  Please contact me with any further questions :)
